30 October 2003
The last two months have passed in a blur of yearlings and living
out of suitcases. Maybe it is me getting older, but it seems there
are more yearlings and more yearling sales each passing year. Even
some of the younger members of our travelling circus have looked
pretty jaded lately, so I don't think it is just me. My brisk walks
up Barningham moor with the dogs have put me in good shape for the
rigours of Keeneland Barn 46 and the Tattersalls hill!
I have signed for 36 yearlings for 6 different trainers in U.S.A.
and England - a lot less than some of my competitors, but nevertheless
a very pleasing result, and a nice mix of regular clients and some
new faces. My thanks to them all for the trust they place in me,
and to my loyal assistant Fiona Needham who has worked tirelessly
to sort the wheat from the chaff. I know there will be plenty of
nice horses to follow in the years to come, and I can't wait to
see them in action.
Now we turn our attention to mares and foals. I am leaving for
Kentucky on October 31st for the Keeneland Breeding Stock sale which
starts on November 3rd. There are some very exciting pedigrees to
look forward to in Keeneland and Newmarket's December Sales. I can
be contacted in Kentucky on my U.S. mobile 859 221 1435 or my European
mobile 07770 674 650. I look forward to hearing from clients old
and new.

A recent Paul Thorman interview was lost
in the rush of yearling sales - I think it deserves wider exposure!
